Elevator Smoke Door

When you need a smoke curtain that is design forward, compact and positively re-seals an elevator shaft after each cycle – you need a SmokeShield Elevator closure. We have taken nearly 100 years of experience in life safety and fire protection to bring this new innovative solution to the market. This hoistway closure allows designers to eliminate the International Building Code elevator lobby requirement (IBC 3006). This breakthrough smoke solution allows forward-thinking designers to create more unique building layouts without having to design around the elevator lobby.

At its core, smoke control products need to stop the travel of smoke. It’s so important to stop the travel of smoke up an elevator shaft, as that acts as a chimney that allows smoke to travel easily from floor to floor. And it’s important to note that smoke actually causes more deaths each year than burns from fire. The SmokeShield Elevator’s patented GuideLock™ technology ensures that it positively reseals after each cycle – containing the smoke to the impacted floor. This door complies with IBC 2003 – 2018, the ICC-ES Report AC-77, and ICC-ESR 3322. In addition, it is listed for UL 1784, UL325, and ASTME 864.

But we didn’t stop at smoke containment – because what is function without form? Designers will love the ability for the SmokeShield Elevator’s guides to be easily concealed under fascia – whether it is wood, masonry, sheetrock, or other materials. The closure simply melts into the surrounding walls, with any exposed guide or bottom bar able to match, compliment, or contrast any design. Designers can conceal the SmokeShield Elevator’s exposed surfaces by custom powder coating or stainless anodized finish guides to match stainless elevator jambs. In addition, the SmokeShield Elevator can even match stainless steel through a unique anodization option.
